A MORE SUSTAINABLE HOME
What can we do to make our homes more sustainable? There are countless ways to help care for the environment while reducing household expenses. Here are some of the actions we can incorporate into our daily lives:
-Reducing energy consumption is one of the most important steps. We can start by replacing traditional light bulbs with LED lights, which use up to 80% less energy. In addition, unplugging electrical devices when not in use helps avoid so-called “phantom consumption.” And, if possible, installing solar panels and making the most of natural daylight during the day will contribute to lowering electricity usage.
-Efficient use of water is also key. Installing taps and showers with flow restrictors, repairing leaks promptly, and choosing efficient appliances can make a big difference. Collecting rainwater to water plants or reusing the water from washing fruits and vegetables for that purpose are also sustainable and easy-to-implement practices.

-Another important recommendation is to reduce, reuse and recycle. Properly separating waste and recycling paper, cardboard, glass, plastics and organic waste. Reducing the use of disposable products and opting for reusable materials, such as cloth bags or glass containers. This not only generates less waste but also saves money in the long run.
-When it comes to food, choosing local, seasonal and preferably organic products helps reduce the ecological footprint. Buying in bulk and avoiding excessive packaging significantly reduces waste. Moreover, if you have space, you can create a small urban garden or compost organic waste to produce natural fertilizer.

-The choice of materials and furniture also influences household sustainability. Opting for furniture made from recycled or certified sustainable materials (for example, FSC-certified) is a good alternative. Avoiding products containing toxic chemicals, such as certain varnishes or paints, and choosing eco-friendly options helps protect both our health and the environment.
Creating awareness among all household members is essential. Encouraging sustainable habits among children, sharing useful information and motivating small daily actions contribute to generating a positive impact on our surroundings. Sustainability begins with everyday decisions, and every change, no matter how small it may seem, adds up.
