A CULTURE-CENTRED ISLAND
Ibiza has been a meeting point for artists of various disciplines throughout history. Its unique light, natural surroundings, and bohemian atmosphere have attracted painters, sculptors, writers, and musicians from around the world. Since the mid-20th century, the island has become a creative refuge, where the fusion of local culture and foreign influence has led to vibrant and diverse art.
One of the main attractions of the White Island for artists is its Mediterranean light, which has encouraged impressionist painters and landscape artists to capture its vivid colours and clear skies.
In addition to painting, sculpture has also played a prominent role. Over time, artists on the island have worked with local materials such as stone and wood to create pieces that integrate into the landscape, fostering a dialogue between art and nature.
Ibiza has also been a hub for music and performance. Since the 1960s, with the arrival of the hippie movement, the island became a centre for artistic experimentation, where live music and theatrical performances were part of daily life.

The White Island is home to art galleries exhibiting works from both emerging creators and well-known figures. Spaces such as the Museu d’Art Contemporani d’Eivissa (MACE) have been key in spreading modern and contemporary art on the island, showing a fusion of tradition and avant-garde. But we cannot forget other cultural centres, such as:
– Fundación Casa Broner: A home designed by German architect Erwin Broner from 1960. The donation by Gisela Broner to the City of Ibiza has turned this house into a treasure that combines unique architecture and artistic expressions.
– Marta Torres Art Gallery: Exhibits works by both emerging and established artists such as Joan Miró and Miquel Barceló.
– Espacio Micus Art Gallery: Allows you to admire the artistic legacy of German painter Eduard Micus in a cutting-edge space dedicated to abstraction.
– Parra & Romero Ibiza Art Gallery: Opened in 2013, it serves as a meeting point for artists in the more rural parts of Ibiza.

– La Nave Salinas Art Gallery: A former salt storage warehouse that has become one of the most unique museums on the island.
– Adda Gallery Ibiza: A place that breaks the mold by showcasing the most atypical and avant-garde side of urban art.
– Garden Art Gallery Ibiza: Located on an Ibizan estate, it offers immersive artistic itineraries in a traditional setting.
