The Puig des Molins area is one of the most important archaeological sites in the western Mediterranean. Its history dates back to the Phoenician era, when colonists from the Levant founded the city of Iboshim in the 7th century B.C. From its earliest days, this site was chosen as a necropolis due to its strategic location—slightly elevated and close to the urban center—making it an ideal site for funerary purposes.

During the Punic period, under the influence of Carthage, Puig des Molins reached its peak of development. It is estimated that it once housed thousands of hypogea—tombs carved into the rock—where the city’s inhabitants were buried. These funerary structures reflect a complex society, with elaborate rituals and a clear social hierarchy, evident in the richness of the grave goods found.

The site’s importance lies not only in its size but also in its exceptional state of preservation. Unlike other Phoenician-Punic necropolises, many of the tombs at Puig des Molins have remained relatively intact over the centuries. This has allowed archaeologists to reconstruct key aspects of daily life, religious beliefs, and funerary practices of these ancient cultures.

With the arrival of Roman rule following the Punic Wars, the area continued to be used for burial purposes, although with changes in rituals and spatial organization. Later, during the Islamic and medieval periods, the area was partially reused and transformed, adding new historical layers to its already complex stratigraphy.

In modern times, Puig des Molins has been the site of numerous archaeological excavations, particularly since the 20th century. These excavations have unearthed a vast amount of artifacts, including votive figures, pottery, amulets, and human remains, many of which are now preserved at the Archaeological Museum of Ibiza and Formentera. This museum plays a vital role in the dissemination and study of the island’s historical heritage.

Today, Puig des Molins is recognized as part of the site designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its historical and cultural value makes it a unique testament to the Phoenician-Punic presence in the Mediterranean, as well as a symbol of Ibiza’s rich multicultural heritage.

The only river on the island of Ibiza, and indeed in all the Balearic Islands, is the Santa Eulària River. This waterway has historically been a rarity in the archipelago, where seasonal streams predominate, carrying water only after heavy rains. Unlike these, the Santa Eulària River maintained a relatively constant flow for centuries, making it a fundamental element for the development of the area.

It rises in the interior of Ibiza and flows for several kilometers before emptying into the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu. Along its course, the river traverses agricultural landscapes that have traditionally benefited from its waters. Thanks to this resource, irrigation systems were established, enabling cultivation on an island where fresh water is scarce.

One of the most interesting aspects of the Santa Eulària River is its historical and cultural significance. For centuries, its waters powered flour mills, some of which are still preserved as part of the island’s ethnographic heritage. These mills were essential to the local economy, as they allowed for the processing of grain and provided sustenance to the population.

However, today the river has lost much of its natural flow due to the overexploitation of aquifers and urban and tourist development. In many sections, especially during the driest months, the riverbed is practically dry. This change has altered the ecosystem associated with the river and reduced its traditional role in the life of the island.

Despite this, the Santa Eulària River remains a unique symbol of Ibiza and the Balearic Islands. It represents a connection to its agricultural past and serves as a reminder of the importance of water in island environments.

At the entrance to the municipality of Santa Eulària stands the Molí de Dalt, also known as Can Planetes, a traditional Ibizan house that houses a watermill of Andalusian origin, dating back to the 10th century and in operation until the mid-20th century. Currently, this space houses the River Interpretation Centre, the starting point of a route that allows you to discover the historical and cultural link between the river and the town of Santa Eulària.

The Ses Salines Natural Park is one of the most valuable natural areas in the Balearic archipelago. Located between the islands of Ibiza and Formentera, it encompasses both terrestrial and marine zones. In total, it covers 2,838.44 hectares of land and more than 13,000 hectares of marine area.

It stands out for its great biodiversity and ecological importance, and was declared a natural park in 2001 with the aim of protecting its unique ecosystems and rich landscapes.

One of the park’s most characteristic features is its salt flats, which have been exploited since ancient times for salt extraction. These salt flats not only have economic and historical value, but also create ideal habitats for numerous bird species. Among them, the flamingo stands out, finding in these shallow waters a perfect place to feed and rest during its migrations.

The park’s marine environment is equally important, as it is home to extensive meadows of Posidonia oceanica seagrass. This marine plant is fundamental to the health of the Mediterranean ecosystem, as it oxygenates the water, is responsible for its clarity, protects beaches from wave erosion, and serves as a refuge for numerous marine species. Posidonia oceanica seagrass have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1999.

Other animal species that can be found in this area include the Pitiusas lizard, endemic to these islands, which occurs in different subspecies on the islets. These lizards are characterized by their full range of colors, from brown to blue.

In addition to its natural value, the park also has significant cultural interest. Archaeological remains from different periods can be found throughout the area, including Phoenician and Roman vestiges. This demonstrates that the area has been inhabited and used for thousands of years, especially due to its wealth of natural resources such as salt.

Today, the park is a popular destination for both tourists and residents. Its crystal-clear beaches, such as Ses Salines and Es Cavallet, combine natural beauty with a protected environment. However, conservation remains a priority, so responsible tourism is promoted to allow visitors to enjoy this area without compromising its natural balance.

For decades, Ibiza has been a spiritual haven in the Mediterranean. Since the mid-20th century, the island has attracted artists, seekers, and alternative communities who found in its light, silence, and energy a space conducive to introspection. What we might call “mystical Ibiza” arises from this blend of powerful nature and an atmosphere of freedom that invites reconnection with what is essential.

One of the great symbols of this spiritual dimension is Es Vedrà, the rocky islet that rises off the southwest coast. Surrounded by legends of magnetism, apparitions, and ancient civilizations, Es Vedrà has become a place of pilgrimage for those seeking to meditate at sunset or simply contemplate its imposing silhouette. Many visitors describe the experience as magnetic and transformative, especially when the sun melts into the sea in shades of gold and violet.

In the north of the island, areas like Sant Joan de Labritja retain a more rural and tranquil character. There, among almond trees, fig trees, and dirt paths, yoga retreats, meditation sessions, and holistic healing gatherings are organized. This inner Ibiza is experienced at a calm pace: sunrises overlooking the sea, artisan markets, and open-air ceremonies.

Another place worth mentioning is Sa Pedrera de Cala d’Hort, known to most as Atlantis. This hidden cove, accessed by descending a small rocky cliff, is a true pilgrimage site for those seeking special places.

The hippie legacy is also part of Ibiza’s mystical side. In the sixties and seventies, alternative communities arrived seeking peace, creativity, and a more authentic way of life. Markets like Las Dalias maintain that bohemian spirit, where crafts, music, and spirituality intertwine.

Today, Ibiza’s mystical side coexists with its festive side, creating a unique contrast. Those who venture beyond the nightclubs discover hidden coves, silent cliffs, and a serene energy that invites contemplation. In this balance between celebration and reflection lies the true spiritual charm of the island: a place where every visitor can find, if they seek it, a space for inner transformation.

We invite you to discover the more ecological side of Ibiza, the one far removed from the hustle and bustle of nightclubs and large tourist resorts, where rural trails and nature reserves abound.

One of the island’s greatest environmental treasures is the Ses Salines Natural Park, a protected area encompassing salt flats, dunes, and underwater meadows of Posidonia seagrass. This park not only harbors extraordinary biodiversity but also plays a key role in the conservation of the Mediterranean marine ecosystem.

Posidonia oceanica meadows are fundamental to maintaining the transparency and quality of Ibiza’s waters. These marine plants act as the lungs of the sea, capturing carbon and generating oxygen, as well as protecting beaches from erosion. Their preservation has become a priority, driving regulations for the responsible anchoring of boats.

In the north of the island, areas like Es Amunts showcase the most authentic and sustainable Ibiza. This landscape of hills, pine forests, and steep cliffs preserves centuries-old agricultural traditions, with terraced fields and dry-stone walls. Here, small producers are committed to organic farming, reviving local varieties and promoting local consumption.

The traditional architecture also reflects a deep respect for the environment. The traditional Ibizan farmhouses, with their thick, whitewashed walls, are designed to keep the interior cool without requiring large amounts of energy.

One example is Casita Verde Ibiza, a former Ibizan farmhouse converted into an ecological education center spanning more than five hectares, founded in 1993 in the heart of a beautiful valley near the village of San José.

Casita Verde is one of the island’s favorite spots for sustainability enthusiasts, who come to this enclave to enjoy its vegan cuisine and learn about its healthy practices. In its garden, they have been cultivating aloe vera, fruits, and vegetables for human consumption for over twenty years, as well as varieties like papyrus, which acts as a natural water filter.

Sustainable mobility is gaining increasing prominence. Local initiatives are promoting the use of bicycles, electric vehicles, and public transport to reduce the carbon footprint. Furthermore, several beaches and coves have implemented access control systems to prevent overcrowding and protect natural enclaves like Cala d’Hort, famous for its views of the islet of Es Vedrà.

This greener Ibiza demonstrates that a balance between tourism and conservation is possible, opting for a model that values its natural heritage as much as its international appeal.

Beneath its waves, Ibiza hides one of the Mediterranean’s most impressive treasures. The island boasts remarkably clear waters, excellent visibility for much of the year, and a pleasant temperature, making it an ideal destination for diving.

In winter, water temperatures range from 20ºC to 25ºC, perfect for spending hours underwater. Even at just 10 metres deep, the colours and marine life are clearly visible.

One of Ibiza’s greatest attractions for divers is the diversity of its seabeds. Caves, natural arches, vertical walls and meadows of Posidonia oceanica create underwater landscapes unlike anywhere else in Europe. This marine plant not only oxygenates the water but also supports extraordinary biodiversity.

The marine life is equally impressive. During dives, it’s common to encounter groupers, barracudas, octopuses, moray eels, rays and schools of fish that fill every corner with life. In some areas, brightly coloured nudibranchs and other fascinating species delight underwater photographers.

Ibiza offers a wide variety of dive sites for every skill level, from calm coves easily accessible from the shore to open-water dives around islets like Es Vedrà or Tagomago. The island is also home to numerous professional dive centres, ensuring safety, quality training and top-notch equipment.

The PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) alone counts twelve affiliated centres on the island, several of which have received awards for excellence.

Another factor that makes Ibiza one of Europe’s top diving destinations is its commitment to marine conservation. There are natural reserves and protected areas where fishing is regulated, helping ecosystems stay healthy and full of life. This not only ensures more spectacular dives but also encourages responsible exploration.

After a day underwater, Ibiza offers paradisiacal beaches, local cuisine and unforgettable sunsets. This combination of experiences makes the island a complete diving destination, hard to match anywhere else.

Ibiza eagerly welcomes the celebration of its Carnival, one of the most colourful and anticipated events on its calendar. While the island is world-famous for its summer atmosphere, winter brings Carnival, a perfect opportunity for locals and visitors alike to enjoy a tradition full of creativity, humour and popular participation. For several days, the streets are transformed into stages of music, costumes and collective joy.

One of the highlights of Ibiza’s Carnival is the rúas, parades featuring groups of performers, schools, associations and friends. These parades usually wind through the main streets of towns like Ibiza Town, Santa Eulària and Sant Antoni, drawing large crowds of spectators.

The grand Carnival Parade of 2026 in the capital will take place on Saturday, 14 February, starting at five in the afternoon. This year’s theme will be Brazil’s Carnival.

Imagination takes centre stage every year. Costumes range from traditional and fantastical characters to satirical takes on current events, always with a playful touch. Children and adults participate alike, making the celebration an intergenerational event where everyone has a role to play.

Beyond the parades, Carnival includes a variety of activities such as children’s workshops, live music performances and street parties. Many communities also organise shared meals and cultural events, reinforcing the social nature of the celebration. Music, whether from batucadas, local bands or DJs, constantly fuels the festive atmosphere.

A traditional moment of Carnival is the burial of the sardine, which marks the end of indulgence and the beginning of Lent. This theatrical and often humorous ritual usually closes the festivities, blending irony with tradition. In Ibiza, it is experienced up close and participatively, keeping this deeply rooted custom alive.

Ibiza’s Carnivals offer a fusion of tradition and modernity. While they may not have the fame of some of Spain’s larger carnivals, they stand out for their authenticity, family-friendly atmosphere, and strong community involvement. They are yet another example of how the island, beyond its tourist image, preserves celebrations that strengthen its cultural identity.

We review the main tips that decoration experts give us when it comes to styling our homes in 2026. The goal is for interiors to feel softer, warmer and more expressive. To achieve this, we turn to:

1. Warmer and deeper colour palettes: Earthy tones remain, but the spotlight shifts to warm, soft neutrals. We will see colours such as beige, taupe and Cloud Dancer, Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2026. These colours offer a sense of comfort and connection with nature, encouraging welcoming environments throughout the home.

2. Natural materials and tactile textures: Authenticity and depth are sought through materials with a story: wood with visible grain, natural stone, handcrafted ceramics and rich fabrics such as linen or wool. These textures not only add visual interest but also create tactile sensations that invite people to experience and feel the space.

3. Organic shapes and sculptural furniture: Design moves away from strict straight lines to embrace soft curves and silhouettes reminiscent of natural forms. Voluminous, sculptural-style sofas, rounded tables and arched doorways create a warmer, more dynamic visual flow, making each piece function like art within the space.

4. Individuality and personal narratives: Rather than following uniform styles, 2026 promotes spaces that reflect the stories and personalities of those who live in them. This is expressed through collected objects, handcrafted or vintage pieces, unique art and eclectic combinations that tell a personal story in every corner.

5. Sustainability and conscious design: Concern for the environment continues to grow and translates into more sustainable décor: responsibly sourced furniture, recycled pieces, eco-friendly materials and products designed to age well. This trend combines aesthetics and responsibility, responding to the demand for greener, longer-lasting homes.

6. Adaptive and functional spaces: Homes in 2026 are flexible places that support different uses: working, relaxing, socialising and resting. Design incorporates smart solutions such as convertible furniture, adaptable lighting or well-defined zones within open-plan spaces. Technology is integrated naturally and discreetly into the very structure of the home, with heating, multimedia and lighting systems that are completely invisible.

Among the styles that will be most popular in 2026 are Japandi, Boho Chic and Industrial. Each of them incorporates these trends in their own way.

Pantone has chosen Cloud Dancer (PANTONE 11-4201) as its Colour of the Year 2026, a soft, ethereal white tone characterised by conveying calm, clarity and serenity in a world increasingly saturated with visual and digital stimuli. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that, for the first time, a white colour has been selected, reflecting a cultural interest in more peaceful, contemplative and simplified spaces.

Pantone presents it as “a sublime white that serves as a symbol of calming influence in a society rediscovering the value of quiet reflection.” According to PANTONE, the colour known as Cloud Dancer “encourages true relaxation and concentration, allowing the mind to wander and creativity to breathe, making room for innovation.”

In terms of interior design, Cloud Dancer becomes a powerful tool for creating environments that evoke tranquillity and spaciousness. Its neutral, well-balanced presence allows interiors to appear brighter and more open without feeling cold or impersonal. This quality makes it ideal for areas such as living rooms, bedrooms and studies, where visual calm is especially valued.

In addition, this natural white functions as a blank canvas on which a rich and varied palette can be built. Cloud Dancer pairs perfectly with organic materials such as wood, stone and natural textiles, as well as with more defined colours. For example, it can highlight earth tones, soft greens or warm greys, adding depth without detracting from the overall sense of serenity

Another important aspect is its ability to adapt to any style: Cloud Dancer fits just as well in minimalist, contemporary design as it does in interiors with a more classic tradition.

In modern settings, it reinforces a sense of simplicity and sophistication; in traditional spaces, it adds a fresh, renewed touch without disrupting the existing harmony. This makes it a particularly valuable colour for projects seeking timelessness.

Its selection as Pantone’s Colour of the Year also carries emotional and psychological implications for interior spaces. A tone like Cloud Dancer not only brightens rooms physically but also promotes relaxation, introspection and well-being, qualities many people seek in their homes to counterbalance the fast-paced rhythm of everyday life.

Christmas in Ibiza is experienced with a blend of Mediterranean tradition, family spirit and a relaxed atmosphere that reflects the island’s unique rhythm. From early December, the streets of the historic centre of the capital and towns such as Santa Eulària, Sant Antoni and Sant Josep begin to light up with festive decorations that contrast with the clear skies and mild winter temperatures typical of the Balearic Islands.

In the main squares, Christmas markets are set up where local artisans sell handmade products, traditional sweets, and decorative items. The best known is Las Dalias, which during the Christmas season also maintains its bohemian essence, with live music and a multicultural atmosphere that brings together residents and visitors. The blend of local tradition with international influences is a key part of Ibiza’s Christmas character.

Religious celebrations also play an important role. Many of the island’s churches hold special services, including the traditional Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. It is common to see handcrafted nativity scenes displayed in parishes and cultural centres, some depicting local scenes with elements of rural Pityusan life. Families gather to share dinners where typical dishes such as sofrit pagès or orelletes are never missing.

One of the most eagerly awaited moments for children is the arrival of the Three Wise Men. On the evening of January 5th, each municipality organises its own parade, some more traditional and others more creative. The Wise Men march through the streets, handing out sweets and greeting families. In Ibiza Town, they even arrive symbolically by sea, creating a magical atmosphere.

Although Christmas is a period of reflection, nightlife celebrations also remain alive. Some bars and venues, especially in areas such as Ibiza’s port or Sant Antoni, host special New Year’s Eve events, combining live music, gastronomy, and the lively atmosphere that characterises the island. The large number of international residents gives the celebration a distinctly cosmopolitan feel.

And the charitable spirit could not be missing… Many associations organise activities such as food drives and cultural events for all ages. The mild weather invites people to enjoy coastal walks even in the middle of December, making the celebrations feel unique. The island blends tradition, multicultural coexistence, and a relaxed lifestyle that defines its special way of celebrating Christmas.
