Living on an island has a significant impact on our way of being and our behaviour. This environment creates unique conditions that influence how we perceive the world, manage relationships and develop our thinking<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the main characteristics of island life is geographical isolation, which can lead to a strong sense of disconnection from the rest of the world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, the feeling of belonging to a community<\/strong> tends to be stronger on islands due to the smaller population and constant contact among neighbours. This can translate into a solid emotional support network that enhances psychological well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being close to<\/strong> nature and coastal landscapes<\/strong> also impacts our mental health. Various studies have shown that the natural environment can reduce cortisol levels (the stress hormone), improve mood, and promote a more positive attitude toward life. On islands, where the sea and green landscapes are part of daily life, many people experience a deeper connection with nature, leading to a greater sense of peace and emotional balance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, the perception of time and life\u2019s pace is usually different on an island. Many people experience a slowdown in daily rhythm<\/strong>, which can be beneficial in reducing the stress typical of large cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Living on an island also affects our daily life in other ways, as we are exposed to less pollution<\/strong> due to typically cleaner air than in big cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also a way to enjoy a wide variety of flora and fauna<\/strong>, including native species unique to each island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Living in this environment gives us access to the beaches that line the coast, to sunbathe, swim and enjoy the outdoors. And of course, we can generally benefit from a much milder climate than in mainland areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it is true that not all aspects of island life are positive. In general, they tend to offer fewer services<\/strong>, both in healthcare and education, and the level of industrialisation is much lower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, residents must accept that leaving the island requires using a plane or boat<\/strong>, as it\u2019s impossible to do so by other means of transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
